Sun Wukong, also known as the Monkey King, is one of China's most beloved and enduring mythological characters. His story begins in the classic novel "Journey to the West," where he is born from a stone after practicing Taoist exercises for centuries. Gifted with incredible strength and agility, Sun Wukong soon becomes a powerful immortal, capable of flying through space using his magical cloud somersault.

As he journeys across ancient China alongside Tang Sanzang (a monk), Zhu Bajie (a half-human half-pig), and Sha Wujing (an ogre), Sun Wukong's insatiable desire for power leads him into numerous misadventures. He steals peaches from the Peach Garden of Heaven, which grant immortality; acquires an elixir that makes him invulnerable; and even captures Xuanzang by force.

Despite his misdeeds, Sun Wukong eventually learns humility when forced to endure punishment under Mount Huagai by Buddha himself. After completing a series of trials set forth by Buddha, including subduing various demons on Earthly Desires Platform – named Hell’s Gate – he earns redemption.
