The Chinese have always been fascinated by the mysteries of the moon, and their myths and legends reflect this fascination. One such legend is that of Chang'e, a goddess who flew to the moon with her pet rabbit.
In ancient Chinese mythology, Chang'e was once a mortal woman named Chang'e who lived in a time when gods and humans coexisted on earth. She was known for her beauty and kindness, but she had one flaw - she loved drinking wine too much. One day while out gathering herbs in the forest, Chang'e stumbled upon an elixir that granted immortality. She drank it without hesitation.
As soon as she consumed the elixir, Chang'e felt herself lifted off the ground and carried away by a divine dragon. She found herself in heaven where all sorts of celestial beings resided including gods like Yu Huang (Jade Emperor) and other immortals.
Yu Huang was so impressed with her beauty that he decided to make her his wife's companion or "yue nu". However, he knew that mortals were not suited for life among gods so he gave her an immortal peach tree from which only one fruit could be eaten each century or else they would become mortal again.
Chang'e ate another peach thinking it would grant eternal youth but instead lost all her divine powers except for being able to fly using wings made from feathers given by Hou Yi (a great archer). Now unable to return home due to losing all powers except flying ability she became lonely as there were no more immortal friends left on earth after Hou Yi married back down into mortality leaving behind two arrows shot at suns threatening world peace twice during his time as emperor before becoming emperor himself later on).
One day while looking at Earth through telescope-like eyes given by Zhinü (the heavenly weaver), she saw people worshipping him under his name "Moon God" which reminded him of how much humanity still remembered them even though they had long since passed away into oblivion; thus making up mind about returning home because now there are more people interested in knowing about these old stories than ever before especially after discovery of space travel technology!
