霍翀原型神荼和郁垒的故事

在汉族平易近间的传说中，神荼和郁垒被奉为门神。他们分别位于门扇上，身着战甲或袍服，一左一右守护着民宅，驱散邪祟，保护百姓安宁。

据《河图括天象》记载，有一年夜桃树，其枝伸三千里，上有金鸡，下有二神，一位是郁垒，一位是神荼，他们手持苇索，以此饲养祥瑞之鬼、禽。到了将旦时分，当日照金鸡时，它便会大声鸣叫，这样世界上的鸡都跟随其叫。金鸡飞下，将诸恶鬼吓走。

《东京赋》中也有提到：“度朔做梗，守以郁垒；神荼副焉，对于操索苇。”根据《战国策·齐策三》的记载，“古子东国之桃梗也”汉下注释为“荼取”、“郁雷”。后来，《习俗通·祀典·桃梗》又作“荼取郁垒”。

王充的《论衡·订鬼》引述了《山海经》的内容：“桑田当中，有度朔之山，上有年夜桃木，其伸蟠三千里，其枝间西南曰鬼门，万鬼所收支也。上有二神人，一曰神荼，一曰郁垒，主阅发万鬼。擅害之鬼，被以苇索而以食虎。”

Shen Shuli and Yu Lei are two divine beings who serve as the guardians of doors in Han Chinese folklore. They are believed to have the power to ward off evil spirits and bring good fortune to those who invoke their protection. According to legend, Shen Shuli is located on the right side of the door, dressed in magnificent armor with a stern expression and wielding a golden battle axe. On the left side stands Yu Lei, clad in black attire with a more relaxed demeanor and no visible weapon other than holding onto his majestic golden-black tiger companion.

The origins of Shen Shuli and Yu Lei can be traced back to ancient texts such as "River Chart: A Record of Heavenly Phenomena" which describes them as residing atop a year-old peach tree that stretches three thousand li into the sky. The tree is said to be home to various auspicious creatures that are fed by these two deities using their sacred reeds.

Over time, different interpretations have emerged regarding their identities and roles within Chinese culture. Some accounts suggest they may have been originally considered one entity named Cai Rui (蔡锐) or Cai Yueli (蔡越力), while others describe them as separate individuals with distinct personalities.

Despite these variations in perception throughout history, it remains clear that Shen Shuli & Yu Lei embody an enduring symbol of protection for generations past
