In ancient Chinese mythology, Chang'e is a goddess who lives on the moon with her pet rabbit. The story begins with Chang'e drinking an elixir of immortality given to her by a mysterious man named Zhang Xian. This causes her to ascend to the heavens, leaving behind her husband, Chang Hong.
As time passes, Chang'e becomes lonely and yearns for human connection. One day, she meets Zhongli Quan and Li Tieguai, two mortals who are also immortals in disguise. They become close friends and often visit each other on Earth and in heaven.
However, their friendship is threatened when Hou Yi returns from his travels as an archer god. He discovers that Zhongli Quan has been stealing arrows from him while he was away. Hou Yi confronts Zhongli Quan but eventually forgives him due to their friendship.
